What a beautiful narrative, Raghavan. Thank you for sharing this. I grew up with a Russian version of a similar comfort drink we called “guggle muggle:” simmered milk, vanilla, honey and egg yolk. Warms me up just thinking about it. I will concoct some of your childhood version, and think of you when I serve it to my kids. Thanks again.

They don’t make them like that any more. That was a different generation of parents who might not have had much money but one thing that they had in abundanance was unconditional love. The sacrifices that they made so willingly so that their children had better lives had to be seen to be believed and the best part was that it was done so unobtrusively. I know because my parents were like that and we were ten!!
